Young children learn best by doing.  Through exploring, deciding, and experimenting children learn first hand about the people and things around them.

 

Children are active learners.  At Kaleidoscope School, we provide the opportunities environment, materials, and adult support for children to discover themselves, their abilities, and their relationships with others and the world we live in.

 

We carefully plan fun-filled activities to foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development.  Small class sizes and a low teacher/child ratio insure individualized attention.

We follow a model of Emergent Curriculum. This approach allows us to respond to the needs and interests of each class and even each child. We observe children’s interests, developmental levels, and play themes, and support and extend their play, ideas and interests by the activities we plan and materials we provide.

 

Whether we are learning about spiders or firefighting, whether we are working on getting our coats on or taking runs mixing the muffin batter, we are responding to the developmental needs of the young child in a language-rich environment that encourages critical thinking, problem solving, compassion, and cooperation.
